Athens, Greece
All too soon it's our last day together with the six of us in Greece. It's been an amazing journey to celebrate our joint 50th Wedding Anniversaries. Peter and I, my brother Peter and Val and friends John and Kim all married in 1975.
Today we spent the day walking the old streets of the city of Athens, through the Plaka and the Agora, all the way up the winding road to the top of the Acropolis to visit the ruins of the Parthenon. Centuries old, it is still very imposing yet it's not easy to imagine how it must have looked when it was complete.
Restoration has been going on for over a hundred years, and there is still a long way to go. We could only marvel at the workmanship of the ancient builders.
Your photos are fantastic, you all look like you had a good time and it looks like it might be cold over there, keep on enjoying.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jackie! It's cool, but the weather has been kind. There's definitely less tourists in the winter. 😉
