Cool Liverpool
Yesterday we flew into Manchester from Seville, via Amsterdam. After picking up our little hire car, a cute little Peugeot 208, we were very happy to just have dinner at our hotel and collapse into bed. This morning after a leisurely breakfast, we drove the hour or so to Liverpool, the birthplace of the Beatles. Our room is on the 15th floor and has a wonderful view over the city, almost as good as the rooftop bar where we had coffee when we arrived.
Liverpool is quite a bit cooler than Spain at this time of year and we were well rugged up against the cold wind and scattered showers as we set off to explore.
The historic waterfront precinct of Royal Albert Dock is now a vibrant cultural hub and houses various attractions including the Tate Liverpool, a Maritime museum and a museum dedicated to the iconic Beatles.
There are several interesting sculptures around the area, dedicated to those who served in the war, to immigrant families, and of course, the Beatles. Liverpool has an eclectic mix of historic buildings and modern architecture.
Such a difference to Spain, the buildings you went to in Spain were amazing, and it was warm๐๐
ReplyDeleteIt was very different, but interesting in its own way. Definitely cooler!
