Corfu, Greece

Our morning walk around Corfu showed us that there are many different faces to the city. Some parts are ancient and filled with history, others are falling slowly into dereliction. Even the 'new' fort is old by our standards in Australia, where nothing is older than 237 years.

After walking around the old town and enjoying a coffee at one of the many coffee shops that were filled with locals enjoying the winter sunshine, we walked around the harbour edge back to the ship. This walk took us past lots of buildings, again, some of which were clean and modern and others derelict and deserted. It's easy to see the economy of Greece is still facing ongoing economic challenges.

  1. It certainly makes you wonder how they built those structures so long ago and so much stone. So many forts so life must have been full of conflicts between kingdoms in those regions. All good back in Oz. We did our fundraising run in Melbourne today. 4 generations of our family fro 4 to 83 years old. I managed the 10 km run
