Valencia, Spain
Impressive Valencia Cathedral stands on a site that has been, in turn, a Roman temple dedicated to Jupiter, a Christian church in the 6th century and a mosque under Muslim rule.
The current cathedral was consecrated in 1238 and houses what is believed to be the actual Holy Grail, the chalice used by Jesus Christ in the last supper. Below the cathedral is an excavation where you can see human skulls and bones, relics from when it was an ancient burial ground.
This morning we also visited the Serranos Towers, the city gateway that was part of Valencia's medieval fortifications. Built in 1392, they served as a defensive structure, ceremonial entrance and even as a prison for nobility from 1586 to 1887. It was worth climbing the 135 tall steps to reach the top with its panoramic views over the city and Turia parkland surrounding the tower.
Wow the places you are seeing are fantastic, you are in your t-shirt so the weather must be warmer, keep on enjoy.
