Our day in Glasgow

I can hardly believe how much we fitted into today. Peter needed a haircut, so I did that before we left in the morning.

We drove into the city and started our walk at the Necropolis, which is filled with large family crypts, elaborate statues, and headstones dating back to the early 1800's. It's set high on a hill overlooking Glasgow. We crossed the bridge of sighs to have a closer look at the Glasgow Cathedral where mass was being held this Sunday morning.

Walking onwards around the city centre we saw some lovely graffiti art on buildings and found lots of buskers, some who had really wonderful voices, and even saw a young boy playing bagpipes all dressed up in his kilt.

Peter had found the Avant Garde Music Bar where we then had a lovely garlicy lunch and listened to a fabulous big band with a great line up playing some good jazz.

We still wanted to go to Pollok Country Park and to see the Burrell Collection which is housed there. On display are over 9,000 unique pieces collected by Sir William Burrell and his wife Constance, that were donated to the city of Glasgow in 1944 and are displayed in a purpose built museum set amidst beautiful parkland. It's incredible and definitely worth a visit. We could have spent hours more there, but unfortunately closing time came too quickly, and so did the end of our day in Glasgow.
