Audlem

AUDLEM
We very much enjoyed our time in Audlem and we ended up staying an extra night. On the Friday night Peter played his trumpet and sang at the Shroppie Fly, a historic canal side inn on the Shropshire Canal. It was a lot of fun, and several other talented (and a few not so talented) people played a big variety of music. There was a violin player who was particularly talented, as well as an excellent Elvis impersonator who has played for the queen & royal family three times. In all it was a fun night,  and right outside our door.

The town of Audlem is another cute little country place, with sweet looking homes, lots of flowers, and everyone is very friendly.

After coffee we were walking back to the boat when we came across a 1904 Pope single cylinder automobile,  unfortunately for the owner broken down on the corner, but gave us the opportunity to chat to the owner and take some photos. As we were talking to him, a 1914 Case V8 roared by, did a quick U turn and pulled up behind to admire the Pope and have a talk with a fellow antique motor enthusiast. Coincidentally both US vehicles rather than British, and the driver of the second car has driven at Bathurst twice.
We also spotted an old Rover that had been converted to electric, and plugged into the power. I didn’t know you could convert old cars to electric motors. I guess you can do anything if you want to spend the money.

In all, Audlem was a great place to spend a few days.
