Planning & House keeping
After a peaceful night on the canal side, we were joined for coffee in the morning by our canalside neighbour John, who was a wealth of information on where to go and most importantly where not to go. John also kindly gave us a canal chart on which Val made notes, so we have a starting place for our future travels. We have found everyone to be most kind and helpful.
Two of the important house keeping tasks on a boat are emptying the black water tanks and filling up with fresh water. We passed Chirk Marina and took the opportunity to take care of both.
Rain and wind are forecast for the next couple of days, so we've decided to spend a couple of days in back in Ellesmere, where we can moor in a sheltered area, right in town and conveniently close to a big Tesco supermarket and within easy reach of several good pubs. Ellesmere has lots of old, cute houses and we've enjoyed our walks here. I'm sure people think I'm odd, taking photos of their homes.
This sign was outside one of the pubs. Apparently dog menus are a thing here. We've also seen signs for dog ice-cream. 🤷♀️
There's a lovely little shop in town that's a combination of art and craft gallery, produce, food and coffee shop. We're almost regulars now. 😆
