Scotland

Today's ferry trip from Belfast, Ireland to Cairnryan in Scotland, couldn't have been more different from our stormy journey when we arrived in Ireland a couple of weeks ago. It was a much shorter trip of around two hours, with sunshine for most of the time and calm seas.

Cairnryan is about an hour and three quarters drive from Glasgow via the stunning Scottish countryside, so by the time we arrived it was after 4pm.

For the next couple of nights we are staying in the Sherbrooke Castle Hotel in Glasgow, which is quite imposing and is set in beautiful gardens. We went for a long walk around the area, which is filled with lovely old homes and parklands. It's obviously been an affluent area. I think it will make an excellent base from which to explore Glasgow.
