The Isle of Skye and beyond
Due to my fantastic navigational skills, we somehow ended up in the town of Mallaig, where you catch the ferry to the Isle of Skye, rather than there being a bridge as I had imagined. I think I got carried away with what we would be seeing on the journey, rather than where it would end!
Luckily there was space for one more car on the small ferry, so we did get to our destination, otherwise we would have needed to backtrack a long way to get to the bridge to the island.
That night, I woke with acute back pain that has really messed up our plans for the week. All I saw of the Isle of Skye was the road from the place we landed to our accommodation, and then the view from the bedroom window.
Again, the drive from the Isle of Skye past snow capped mountains, Loch Ness, and all those other wonderful sights is a bit of a blur for me, and our stay in Inverness was mainly dealing with the back pain and trying to work out a way forward. We were lucky to find a lovely physiotherapist who was so kind that she came in on her day off to work on my back for over an hour.
Now we're in Aberdeen staying in a cute little pub and today after over 3 hours in the emergency department of the Royal Aberdeen Infirmary, I have new medications and a walking stick, all courtesy of the Scottish government, which is pretty amazing. So I hope that things will begin to improve from here. Peter has been wonderful through it all, I don't know how I could have coped without him. It's definitely not the way we envisioned spending our 50th wedding anniversary.
I really hope you are alright and on the mend, that's not what you want on your beautiful holiday, get well, thinking of you❤️❤️❤️❤️🦘🦘🦘
ReplyDeleteThanks Jackie. ❤️ It's really starting to feel better today. 🤞
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your fiftieth. Sorry about the back pain. Hopes for better days ahead. Great to talk yesterday. Scotland looks like a picture paradise. See you both soon.
ReplyDeleteScotland is just beautiful. Back is much improved, so I'm looking forward to enjoying our last week of the trip.
